Problem Gambling Counselor Phase Trainings
DMHA through its contract with the Indiana Prevention Resource Center is sponsoring Clinical Training sessions that will prepare you to take the Problem Gambling Counselors Exam.
Topics to be covered:
PHASE 1/2: History and scope of gambling in US; Definitions, Screening and Assessment Tools; Typology; DSM-IV Criteria
PHASE 3/4: The meaning of money; treatment planning; co-occurring disorders; stages of change; harm reduction; self help groups; financial management issues; legal issues and gambling treatment
PHASE 5/6: Biogenetics; Neurochemistry & Psychopharmacology & the Brain of the gamblers; Special Populations (teens, seniors, multi-cultural); Issues for Women

State of Indiana Gambling Treatment Providers
State funds are available for outpatient treatment services for compulsive gamblers, their families and/or significant others. Residents who qualify will be able to have all or part of the cost of outpatient treatment paid if they meet the clinical diagnosis for compulsive gambling and demonstrate financial need. The services will be provided by counselors who meet the state's gambling specific training criteria.
