Gaming Study Committee to meet today

The Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS — An interim legislative committee plans to meet to discuss a host of gambling issues including competition from other states.

The Gaming Study Committee already has explored several gambling subjects, including money troubles for casinos at Indiana's two pari-mutuel horse racing tracks.

Monday's meeting will focus on several more topics, including the possibility of locating a casino in northeastern Indiana and subsidies paid to a casino in southern Indiana's Orange County. It's possible the meetings will result in legislation being filed when the General Assembly convenes its next session in January.
